Klamath County, Oregon (OR) – On February 2, 2025, Oregon State Police responded to a collision involving two vehicles on HWY 97 near milepost 249 in Klamath County, OR.
The initial investigation revealed that a green Ford Expedition, driven by 38-year-old Wyonna Elaine Weiser of Chiloquin, when it slid sideways into the northbound lane, colliding with a white Ford F-350 towing a horse trailer, driven by 31-year-old Franklin Scott Maricle of Bend. During the impact, the F-350 struck the side of the Expedition. The Expedition stopped while the F-350 remained on the HWY, blocking most of the roadway.
Two passengers of the Expedition, 41-year-old Winnie Mae Hescock of Klamath Falls and 41-year-old Laurice Lee Foster of Chiloquin, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Expedition, Wyonna Elaine Weiser, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, and the passenger, 56-year-old Wauseka Brown Jr. of Chiloquin.
The HWY was affected for about one hour during the on-scene investigation. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
