Merced County, CA – On December 5, 2022, Monday, one person died after a traffic accident on Highway 165 and American Avenue in Merced County, CA.
Authorities reported that a 28-year-old was in the back of the wheeled passenger car heading to the highway. As the car was nearing the junction, the operator slowed down for the left turn.
Sources indicate that a tow truck heading behind the car was unable to notice the slow phasing traffic. An online article says that the tow truck hit the base of the passenger car and the impact caused the car into the other lane hitting a big rig. Around 5:45 in the afternoon, rescue teams rushed to the scene and located the driver of the smaller car suffering from fatal injuries. Responding paramedics gave first aid which was later delivered to a nearby hospital. Life-saving efforts were conducted by paramedics, however, the patient died of fatal trauma. The identity of the victim has not yet disclosed pending confirmation of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the driver of the tow truck and big rig both appeared unharmed after the catastrophic incident. Investigators are in the case to determine the cause of the tragedy that transpired on Highway 165 and American Avenue in Merced County.
