UPDATED
According to Jackson County Seriffs Office, the bus was transporting 11 South Medford High School Students when a utility truck came in contact with the bus. The driver of the truck was cited for failure to yield the right of way at an uncontrolled intersection.
ORIGINAL STORY
Central Point, Oregon – A morning route of a bus belonging to school district 549 was interrupted by an accident in a small rural neighborhood between Central Point and Jacksonville. It is not clear what school the bus was taking kids to but that area is in the Jacksonville Elementary, McLoughlin Middle School and South Medford High School boundaries.
The accident occured at the intersection of Oak Ridge Avenue and Poplar Drive. No injuries have been reported but it appears the bus made contact with a construction type truck and swerved into the bushes in front of a home.
With this being back to school time it is even more important to keep an eye out for school buses. Luckily for this one, no one was hurt but school bus accidents can be very serious especially for the kids due to them not having a seat belt and being so close together. While it is not clear who is at fault we can always keep an eye out for school buses.
